Getting all your e-mail through Thunderbird

This is a good tip if you want to manage all your e-mail accounts in one place.
Do this on your own, personal computer or laptop so other people wont have access to all your mail.

1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird
START > All Programs > Mozilla Thunderbird > “Mozilla Thunderbird”

A new window should open now.

2. Add your e-mail account to Thunderbird
Tools > Account Settings

Press “Add Account” button
A new Account Wizard window should open now.

3. Enter e-mail settings into Thunderbird Account Wizard
Your Name
E-mail Address

Press NEXT

Server Information > click IMAP
Incoming Server > (example: mail.montclair.edu)
Outgoing Server > (example: mail.montclair.edu)

PRESS NEXT

Incoming User Name is your (example: MSU Webmail user name with the numerical suffix).

PRESS NEXT

Account Name is whatever you want to call it — Play, School, Work, etc.

PRESS NEXT

Look over all your entered information
Make sure to CHECK FOR TYPOS and other errors

PRESS FINISH

4. Access your e-mail for the first time
Click on your account name in the Left pane of the Thunderbird window.
Click on READ MESSAGES in the Main Pane of the Thunderbird window.

Thunderbird will ask you to ENTER YOUR e-mail PASSWORD.
You can decide whether you want Thunderbird to remember all your passwords

CHECK the box for “Use Password Manager to remember this password”

PRESS OK

5. Access your e-mail account
Click on INBOX under your Account Name in the Left pane

When all your e-mail INBOX shows in the Main pane of the Window,
Go to the Date part of the Inbox and CLICK to sort your most recent e-mails first.

6. Repeat steps 1-5 with all your e-mail accounts to have it all in one easy to use window!
