How to Add Sound & Movie in PowerPoint
Add a sound
To prevent possible problems with links, it is a good idea to copy the sounds into the same folder as your presentation before you add the sounds to your presentation.
1. In the pane that contains the Outline and Slides tabs, click the Slides tab.
2. Click the slide to which you want to add a sound.
3. On the Insert tab, in the Media Clips group, click the arrow under Sound.
4. Do one of the following:
a. Click Sound from File, locate the folder that contains the file, and then double-click the file that you want to add.
b. Click Sound from Clip Organizer, scroll to find the clip that you want in the Clip Art task pane, and then click it to add it to the slide.
TIP: You can preview a clip before adding it to your presentation. In the Clip Art task pane, in the Results box that displays the available clips, move your mouse pointer over the clip’s thumbnail. Click the arrow that appears, and then click Preview/Properties.
Perhaps you want to add a sound transition from one slide to another. Or maybe adding a sound transition to introduce a text box of information or a picture.
- Preferably one should wait until they finish their power point first and then they should add their special effects like transitions and sound effects.
- Choose the slide you would like to add sound for by clicking through the slide show on the left panel.
- Once you have chosen the slide you would to add sound, go the 4th tab above which should be “animation”
- To the right, you should see “Transition Sound” and next to that is a drop down box that offers many different types of sounds you can use when introducing your slide.
(OPTIONAL) Or if you have another sound file you personally uploaded and it has to be a .wav file, click “other sounds…” - So now you can preview your slide show with the added sound when that specific slide comes up.
- Repeat on multiple slides if you want.
- Or maybe you want to add sound to a certain text box or picture on a slide.
- On the left side of the animations tab, you should see a custom animation button.
- Click it, and a right panel should show up that contains all your content on that slide.
- Click on one of the text boxes or pictures that are listed and a drop down box should appear.
- Click on the drop down box and choose “Effect Options”
- You can add the direction as it appears on the slide also.
- Under “enhancements” next to sound is another drop down box that contains sounds you can add to your object.
- Preview the slide to test the sounds!
- Repeat on other objects if you want!
