1. Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Access 2007
2.The Microsoft Office Access 2007 main screen will pop up with three options, Template Categories, Microsoft Office Online Templates and a New Blank Database template. Click one of these options. These templates make it easier for the user to create the databases accommodating to specific needs.
Ex: Student databases can help create rosters, sort grades for classes.
*(For this demonstration I am going to be using the “Blank Database” template).
3. Create a file name for the database.
4. Click here for a view of the database.
5. The left-hand navigation hold “All Tables”. Use more than one table if necessary.
6. Right-click on” Table 1″ to save and re-name the table as desired.
7. Each field is allowed an ID (name), these IDs rely on one constant, the primary ID ( or the first ID).
8. Go to the left-handed side of the toolbar, and click on “View“. Currently, the view is in “Datasheet View“. Go to Design View.
9. In Design View, you will be able to see the Field Name and Data Type. The data type is adjustable to respond to any accommodation of each field. These are the data types options:

  • Text
  • Memo
  • Number
  • Date/Time
  • Currency
  • Auto Number
  • Yes/No
  • OLE Object
  • Hyperlink
  • Attachment
  • Lookup Wizard…

Example: If the field s name is Customer Spent, the user would want to change the data type to show Currency .

9.Fill in the fields with the accurate information for the database.

Most databases hold sensitive information that should be kept private. Access 2007 allows you to protect your databases with a password.
10. Save tables and database, then close Access 2007.
11. Open Access 2007.
12.Click Microsoft Office button > click Open > find and click on the database file you created > click the Open arrow > click Open Exclusively
13. The database will be opened exclusively. On the tool bar, find and click Database Tools > click Encrypt with Password
14. Create a creative password and verify. Close Access 2007. The next time you open your Access file it will be password protected.
